Visit Scopello and Riserva dello Zingaro
The Riserva dello Zingaro hosts scrupulously large segments of incontaminated shores, sprinkled of little palm trees, butcher's brooms, ferns, scotch brooms, cyclamens and other nice examples of Mediterranean flora. Lose yourself in its small bays, like Tonnarella and Cal della Disa, walk along its narrow paths to the sea.
The day will end with the visit of Scopello, a little town raised all around an old "baglio", a traditional fortified farm. Scopello takes its name from the latin term for "faraglioni" (sea stack): scopulus. One of the anciest tonnare, the traditional place where tuna is fished, is very near to the town. Scopello is famous also for its pani cunzatu, the traditional Sicilian flavoured bread.
